Beryl Cook (1926-2008), born in Surrey. Beryl started painting in her mid forties, the former seaside landlady who was without doubt Britain’s best known and most popular painter. Her paintings could never be called ’still life’, her colourful portrayal of characters & situations, were painted in her own very individual style, showing real people enjoying life with the people they love with all the vitality and emotion of the moment.
